What you will get out of Mend & Move Pilates

A mat class will work your entire body.

Pilates benefits:

  • Improve posture
  • Relief from back/neck/shoulder/hip discomfort
  • Increase stability, mobility and flexibility
  • Improve balance and co-ordination.
  • Help aid recovery after injury

This low-impact, controlled and balanced exercise has its emphasis on building core strength to improve posture, flexibility and mental awareness. Understanding your body’s natural limitations and finding ways to control them is the best way to prevent getting hurt in the long run.

This makes Pilates an excellent rehabilitation method to restore the balance in the joints and muscles. We consider the body as a whole rather than an area you may have in pain. Focus is placed on faulty movement patterns, poor posture, instability and lack of joint mobility which may have caused the injury/discomfort in the first place.

Feelings of strength and stability are important in everyday life. Many injuries we see are from overloading certain areas of the body with repetitive movements such as picking up the shopping, carrying children, cleaning the house, gardening and exercising. A high-volume of injuries each year result from the inability to engage your deep core muscles when doing basic movements.

Pilates targets the root cause of many of these injuries. These workouts increase your overall strength, control and co-ordination of movement to allow you to return to life and sport stronger, faster, fitter and more resilient to injury.

When you start Pilates consistency is the key. Two hours a week should be dedicated to your Pilates routine. The more you do Pilates, the faster your body will respond. Muscle memory kicks in and your body will start to develop a deeper connection to the exercise. This will then transfer into your everyday or sporting tasks allowing you to do things for longer with less or no pain.

Wear active wear or comfortable clothing. We provide the mats and equipment you will use….and the fun (of course). There are bathrooms on site as well as bush turkeys and water dragons.

All you need to do is join us.

My first experience with Pilates was at a couple of well-known gyms, the classes were large, the instructors not consistent and they pretty much stayed at the front of the class.  When I moved to the Coast, I wanted to continue Pilates, however I didn’t want to go to a gym; with a stroke of luck I found Pilates and the wonderful Hannah Chandler.

What makes Hannah’s classes work, firstly the class size she keeps them smaller this enables her to spend more time with each member.  She also tailors exercise to your fitness level (with some challenges), she makes sure you are doing the exercise correctly it’s hands-on with Hannah.  Hannah knows the names of all of her students, her engaging personality, relaxed attitude and innovative techniques make it a fun and worthwhile experience.

The above are some of the reasons why after 7 years I’m still attending Hannah’s classes twice a week, I highly recommend Pilates by this lovely lady.

“I’m a long term exerciser but have always found it hard to keep at any particular exercise regime for much longer than twelve months, mainly due to boredom. However, over the last three years, I’ve found Hannah’s Pilates classes something that I look forward to.  I find that I actually enjoy them. On the one hand this is undoubtedly due to her ability to keep changing the content so that it never gets boring and, on the other hand, to her outgoing fun-loving personality. Can’t speak highly enough her classes.”
